Ophthalmology Business Minute™ is a series of resources designed to help ophthalmology residents and fellows primarily and younger ophthalmologists with the business side of ophthalmology. The resources will be specific to their stage of training and the content will build over time to allow retention and foster an environment of learning. We will populate the articles according the relevance at the level of training R1 (First year Ophthalmology Resident), R2 (second year ophthalmology resident), R3 ( third year ophthalmology resident, F (fellow in training), YO’s 1-10 (young ophthalmologists years in practice after training).
The goal of Ophthalmology Business Minute™ is to provide business resources for ophthalmology residents, fellows and younger ophthalmologists, and create a business savvy community.
To provide high quality and relevant business topics for each physician at their specified time point in their training to be a well-rounded ophthalmologist capable of leading the ophthalmic team and operating a successful practice.
Our vision is to offer a mini MBA like degree offering numerous topics similar to what is in an MBA curriculum. We will focus on the ACGME core competencies that are required for ophthalmology residents and fellows to graduate from their respective ophthalmology residency and fellowship training programs. We will focus primarily on business operations and finance, leadership, personal financial management, practice management skills, coding and reimbursement and exposure to different practice setting models.
